The Single Most Important Element

Greg LeMond, three-time winner of the Tour De France, said that “experience” was probably the single most important element in mastering the techniques and tactics of racing.

It’s true of your live show as well – experience is definitely going to help you master onstage skills and move your career forward.

But Greg LeMond also went on to say that “once you have the fundamentals, acquiring the experience is a matter of time!” Watch this video and learn about the fundamentals you need to have onstage, too…

I’ll add this to LeMond’s statement: you should always be working on those fundamentals to make things better. You never arrive!

Our Bootcamps are a great place to come and learn the fundamentals every successful artist needs to continue working on their whole life. We work on the four ways of moving on stage, the five destinations onstage, angles, zone communication, one-on-one communication, proxemics, and much more! (These live show fundamentals are just one area of 4 we work on at Bootcamp.)

And DVD #5 of my All Roads Lead to the Stage series, Don’t Fall Off the Stage, walks you through those fundamentals, plus talks about the tools you have to use onstage.

These are fundamentals that every artist uses (if they learn them) to communicate with every person in the audience. It’s not choreography, drama, or dance. It’s not hokey movement things.

I know that you sense you need to do something when you’re onstage. But most artists don’t know what to do. These fundamentals are the answer!

  1. Hey Dean, Amy Wolter here. Just wanted to let you know the the blog I talked about earlier is now posted. Click on:

Let me know what you think, and I hope to see you at Bootcamp!

  2. Hey Dean! I’m one of Tom’s Live Music Producers. Sounds like you were doing some things right as a performer. You focused on what the audience wanted to hear and secondly you love what you do and were able to communicate with the audience! And you don’t have to have exceptional talent to be a great performer. Watch for a new blog I have coming out next week titled ‘Moments or Musicality’…I’ll talk about that very issue. I would recommend you come to our Bootcamp in February. It’s a life-changer! You will learn SO much that you can apply right away, plus interact with other artists of all levels who are also trying to make their show better. We’ve received so many emails about the last 2 events we did saying how much artists got out of it and how they applied these things in their set right away and the difference it made. Click here to read more about Bootcamp…
I know this event will get you excited about performing again!

  3. I think this is great!!! I use to travel and sing for years when I was in my 20s and 30’s. At high schools, churches, weddings, coffee shops, banquets, etc., mostly small forums and I knew that what people wanted was an “experience.” I tried to give it to them and they seem to respond. I was a singer/songwriter who also did covers that I thought my audience would like or covers that communicated what I was trying to convey in the moment at that partiuclar event. I would throw in an original now and then. I have not done this for many years and I miss it. But I would really like some help. I’m a singer/songwriter with medium talent as a guitar picker, and piano player and probably a little less talent than that as a singer but I really love the stage and communicating with the audience. Outstanding,…would love to get the DVD’s or go to a workshop!
