Tyson Bowman grew up on country music – during a time when Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, and John Anderson were in their prime. He strayed from those roots for a while when he rapped in a high school hip hop collective (in 2006 they opened up for American rapper Ludacris). But country music was always where his heart was!
An Erie Pennsylvania native, Tyson’s vocal sound is Josh Turner mixed with Garth Brooks. In fact, recently after one of his live performances in Nashville, Pam Lewis (Garth Brook’s manager/publicist) told Tyson, Garth would have been proud of his version of “The River.”
Tyson’s first full-length album includes songs he has co-written with Roy August (co-writer of #1 hit “Fancy Free” recorded by the Oak Ridge Boys), Judy Rodman (co-writer of #1 hit “One Way Ticket (Westbound Train)” recorded by LeAnn Rimes), and Rand Bishop (co-writer of #1 hit “My List” recorded by Toby Keith).
Recently, his first radio single and album title cut, “Thank God For People,” reached #3 on the Inspirational Country Music chart, and Tyson is currently nominated Inspirational Country Music Awards “New Artist” for 2011.

Tyson played in a small resort town in Western New York on the 4th of July – just him and his guitar. He knew it would be a challenge to entertain and help his audience experience moments all by himself! But he recounts his experience through the light of techniques he had learned from our Live Music Producers:
“I picked up a wireless headset mic, made sure I had enough guitar cable to roam free, and I began to walk with authority, playing guitar and talking to the audience at the same time. I maintained eye contact with the audience, changed my position onstage for what the song called for, used Tom’s set list guide (the one that looks like a heart monitor thing!). The entire show never stopped!”
In addition to songwriting and performing, Tyson has been busy producing a new female artist, Larissa. He co-wrote a ton of songs on the record with Larissa, including the title cut and first single, “Where I’m Going.” The full record is planned to be released 11/11/11, with “Where I’m Going” on it’s way to radio.
Tyson continues to get recognition for his songwriting and performances, but he also has a heart for helping others, whether through raising awareness of autism or developing the “Grand New Opry” for fellow musicians! He’s definitely an artist to watch!
