Video Blog #1 – Welcome & Movement

We work with a lot of different artists, from country to rock to pop to psycho billy punk horror 🙂 .

No matter the genre, the desire in your artistry is to be legitimate to the style you’re performing.  You want to present cohesiveness to the audience so they understand who you are.

Movement has a great deal to do with that.

When you’re on stage, your movement must correlate to the style of music you perform.

However, if you don’t know the basics of movement, you won’t be able to achieve that end result.  You have to know the basics.

Some of the basics include angles, placement on stage, and realizing there are four ways to get across the stage.

As you learn the basics, you begin to develop the understanding of what you’re supposed to do while you’re on stage.

The more you practice, the more you’ll get a picture of what your performance should look like.

It’s like learning to play the guitar or drums. You don’t learn Jimmy Page licks right off the bat.

You start with the basics, become aware of what’s involved, and then you realize the subtleties and nuances of how people create something that’s unique to them.

Your goal, should you choose to accept it, is to understand the basics.  Learn to use performance tools and skills.

As you work on them, they will become second nature and you will be able to bring your own creativity and style to your performances.

Learn the basics first and that will free you to be creative in your artist development.

  3. Love the idea of the videos for us! Keep it up!

  4. Thanks for the updates. I really enjoy reading and now watching your posts. With all the emails I receive in a day, I never bypass your submissions. I make it a point to stop whatever I am working on and read your posts or watch your videos every single time. I have enjoyed Tom’s talks when he comes to the east coast of Canada. At some point I will hire your services for my band.
Keep up the great work. On those days when you think “what is this all for and is it really worth it” (we all have those days), know that you have a very dedicated group of followers that love to hear from you. There are many of us that can’t wait for the day when we can hire you to assist with our live performances.
All the best to you and your team,
    Cheers
    Andy

These videos are great! I use screenreader software for all computer work and research. Unfortunately few websites are completely accessible. I hope to see more videos that work with screenreaders. Great job Tom!
