Is It a “Great Song Moment” – or More?
For those of you who have studied my Graph for putting your show together, you may recognize the term “Great Song Moment.” After you’ve played a couple of songs for your Intro Moment, then the 3rd song is that Great Song Moment.
When I say “great song,” what I mean is a song that can stand on its own. It’s catchy with a memorable hook. It’s one your audience often asks for at the merch table.
If you were getting a lot of radio airplay, that great song is the one that would get pitched to radio, because it’s the perfect radio song. It’s just a… well, a great song!
It’s a great song because the melody, the harmonies, the rhythm, the lyrics, the arrangement – they’re all great. (In fact, it’s often the song that I don’t change too much for the live show, because it works pretty well all on its own.)
