Under Pressure
Hey everybody,
Here’s a blog from an artist I’ve worked with in the past, Jessica Ridley. As I mentioned in my book, there are multiple ways to get prepared to walk on stage and she found her way like this…
“This is for all my high strung singers out there. 🙂 I think I need to start a club! Have you ever gotten on stage after doing everything you could possibly do to be prepared, and then flopped?
Maybe your voice wouldn’t loosen up, the butterflies wouldn’t go away, you missed a lyric, or you went for the high note and epically failed? Then you got home and over a pail of ice cream, you wondered what in the world happened. You were so ready! You did your “ohms” right before the show.
You wrote some poetry that day and read a good book. You went over everything like mad – what is the deal? Over the last few years I’ve discovered that “being prepared” isn’t exactly what I needed. Now, everyone may not be like me and what I’m about to say may sound a little counterintuitive but hear me out.
