Walking On the Stage: Learning the Tools & Fundamentals

For those of you who have seen my Live Music Method class (whether you learned it at a workshop, from my DVD, or in my book), you know I draw the analogy of your show being similar to building a house.

You start by Planning (getting a vision for your show), then by laying a Foundation (who you are is more important than what you do). After that, you’re ready to use your Materials, Tools & Skills to start building!

This video clip from a Road Show in eastern Canada was taken a few years ago – but it has some content I really wanted you to see. (A picture is worth a thousand words.)

You see, I’ve had a lot of artists tell me they use my teaching and my Method. But then they’ll send a video link to me, and I can tell they haven’t taken the time to go into their bedroom or a private place and work out things like mic stand technique, angles, using a stool… and one of the things you’d think would be simple since we do it every day: walking onstage.

The artist I happened to be working with on this particular day, Tim Chaisson, hadn’t ever worked with me before. So I didn’t expect him to know how to do this right out of the chute!
