GETTING PERMISSION

     There’s nothing more frustrating for me than to watch an artist perform…halfway. ‘Kind of’ bringing it. Especially when I know what they are capable of as singers and musicians.

     A few months ago I was in the audience at a large banquet where an established gospel singer was the entertainment. She sang her big career-maker hit song, one that’s been played for probably the last 10 years, and most people in this audience were familiar with it.

     The song is one of those hair-raising power ballads that just soars and I was a little giddy with the expectation of hearing those killer high notes as the song built.
