Indie Artist Brings in $150K for Charity & $10K for Themselves

Doug and Linda Tidwell with ChildFund International“Over 70 sponsors today, Tom!”

The call came in after indie artists Doug and Linda Tidwell did a concert in a San Antonio, Texas elementary school for about 200 kids.

As artists who work hard on their onstage appeal and advocacy for ChildFund International, it was no surprise they got a great response! But let me explain what that size response actually means:

  • 70+ children will now have access to food, water, clothing, medical needs, & education on a regular basis
  • ChildFund International will receive about $150K+ to fund community projects around the world
  • The Tidwells now have an extra $10K+ to fund their gigs and music career!

The Tidwells have been doing this kind of work with charities for over a decade, and their response rate has continued to grow each year. As part of their hard work and recent sponsorship acquisitions, ChildFund paid for them to have some time with Tom Jackson to work their show and improve their appeal.

After those rehearsals with Tom, Linda wrote and said, “We are really pumped! It’s because of YOU!” The duo updated their music & set, watched their recorded practice video, and were encouraged by Tom. As they told Tom and ChildFund, “Thanks for putting wind in our sails!

Out on the road for the next few months, The Tidwells will likely get hundreds more children sponsored, creating a win-win-win for everyone involved.

In their appeal, they ask their audiences to sponsor a child. Audience members willing to give simply choose a child at the Tidwell’s merchandise table, fill out the sponsorship envelope with billing information, and the Tidwells send in those completed envelopes to ChildFund.

Doug and Linda want you to know that you can be part of this program to advocate for a charity, too. If you are out gigging regularly and would like to affect the lives of people in need, simply go to our Live Music Cares website and fill out an inquiry…
