Five young people with an affinity to each other in style… Christian rock band KINDRED is going places!
From East Texas, this group’s sound is a blend of lyrical expression and intricate instrumentation. Each member has navigated through life experiences, thinking about where they are meant to go with their style of music.
With a commanding and passionate lead singer, KINDRED is rounded out by an inspiring guitarist, a spirited bass player, a talented rhythm guitarist, and a superior rhythm section.
In the summer of 2011, KINDRED signed with PopGun Entertainment (founded by Nashville producers Dustin & Lindsey Kirkendall) and recorded their first EP in Nashville. In the summer of 2012, they recorded a new full length album, EVOLVE, soon to be released.

“Young and fresh,” says Kirkendall, “KINDRED offers something new to the realm of rock music. With poetic, non-vulgar lyrics, their songs often adopt graceful meanings while musically surrendering to the sounds of an alternative rock style.”
And to prove their growing popularity, KINDRED has just been nominated Christian Artist of the Year by ETEX (East Texas) Music Awards 2013. In addition, lead guitarist Guiseppe Joey Cefalu, drummer Jacob Hines, lead singer Nyna Knox, bassist Dustin Herres, and guitarist Cash Hamilton, are each nominated for awards as well. Voting started April 1st and the band is doing well so far! They invite anyone to help them out by clicking here and following the voting links…
This year KINDRED has already had the opportunity to play in two “invitation only” showcases, one with a representative from National Music Labels. “It was very exciting to be able to talk with them and make connections,” said JaNiece Cefalu, the band’s manager.
“We have improved our show SO much within the last month from viewing helpful information and ideas from Tom Jackson videos and backstage passes,” continues JaNiece. “We can only pray to learn more and further our walk in the Christian Music Industry so that our show will touch the hearts and memories of our spectators. Just by our lead singer learning how to use her mic stand to liven up her performance has helped tremendously. Thank you for your information and instruction!”
We’re happy to help, KINDRED, and are happy you’ve joined our community of artists Backstage!
