Developing Themes & Characters: Characters
Part of what a Live Music Producer does is visual. If you’ve watched one of my Live Music Makeover DVDs, seen us work with an artist onstage at a workshop, or looked at Backstage videos to see a 1-on-1 rehearsal clip, then you’ve no doubt noticed the visual changes we suggest.
But if you’ve only noticed the visual, you’ve really missed most of what we do. You see, the visual is born out of the song rearrangements we create specifically to emotionally connect with your audience live!
Why Rearrange Your Songs
First of all, what do I mean by rearranging? I don’t mean changing the personality or style or color of the song! For instance, it isn’t rewriting the chord structure, it isn’t changing the song from country to hip hop style, and it isn’t taking out a distortion guitar sound and using a bagpipe in its place.
