Nicole Barron – Encouraging, Inspired, and Passionate: Spotlight Backstage Artist

Canadian artist Nicole Barron has been described as Christian music’s Melissa Etheridge combined with the fun of Sheryl Crow and sweetness of Amy Grant, all with brilliant personal songwriting on par with Carole King!

In spite of her struggles she has released four CDs, performed internationally, and raised thousands for charity. Her live show has so much energy that many never pick up on the pain and fatigue she’s hiding.

For Nicole, it’s been a long hard journey – first overcoming abuse and depression, then combating a mysterious illness for five years before finally being diagnosed with several troubling conditions that robbed her of strength, energy and mobility; a hard pill to swallow when you’re a passionate performer, wife and mother of four busy kids.

But her strong spirit and determination and the great support from her husband and her band, propelled Nicole to never quit giving her very best in every performance, always pouring every last drop of energy into the music.

Nicole’s struggles have given her songwriting great insight. So much so, that a song she penned literally saved a friend’s life! Debbie, a good friend of Nicole, has been battling anorexia for years. Very ill, in so much pain, she was near death. Nicole wrote “Rise Up” out of heartbreak for her. But Debbie listened to the song over and over… and now, she is stronger and better than ever.

Nicole has been asked by BANA (Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association) of Windsor Ontario, to use Rise Up as the theme song for their next big fundraising effort. She is excited to be working with Jeff Boulton of Dante Media Group to produce a music video of the song.

After opening for The Afters last year, Nicole gained a ton of new fans and supporters. And this fall, those fans are happily seeing the launch of her eagerly awaited tour. Nicole’s band has been developing a completely new show for the tour.

“Using the techniques and methods taught by Tom Jackson,” Nicole says, “we’re excited to launch our ‘Encouragement Tour.’ We’re trusting God to open doors and allow us to bring this new show to as many churches and organizations as possible.”

Nicole received her first corporate sponsorship recently. St. Clair College of Applied Arts & Technology in Windsor Ontario, decided to back up their belief in Nicole by contributing a corporate sponsorship to help fund her Artist Development trip to a Tom Jackson Bootcamp in Nashville, where Nicole was named a Top Performer!

Nicole has already applied some of what she’s learned from Tom to her live performances and is stunned by the quick and positive response from her audiences. Nicole tells us that “really focusing on song selection and order, as well as maximizing the ‘moments within each song’ has been an incredibly powerful method to increase fan involvement and investment.”
