Just See What Happened in Nashville

It’s hard to describe everything that happens at a Tom Jackson Live 2-Day Bootcamp event.

But they say a picture is worth a thousand words. So here are a few thousand “words” to help you see just what happened last weekend at our Nashville event!

Of course Tom was on hand both days teaching his Live Music Methods, talking about the principles of performance, and encouraging artists of all genres.

As country singer Rae Solomon said, “Wow! What an amazing experience. Tom really has a gift!”

Tom and Amy working with a bandThere were sessions taught  that took artists through Live Music Makeovers.

Speaking of Live Music Makeovers, everyone enjoyed the amazing transformation of a song performed by the band Borrowed Blue.

This group was used to demonstrate what every artist’s rehearsal should really look like.

Then there was the networking… as many artists have said, this is a part of the Bootcamp experience they wouldn’t want to miss!

There never seems to be enough time to get to know artists from all over the U.S. and around the world. But part of the day on Friday was spent in breakout sessions, getting to know others, hearing about what they do and where they perform, and discussing the challenges of the indie artist career.

Other breakout sessions included artists hearing Tom explain the opportunities available for tour support through charities. The artists who came out of those sessions were really excited to find out about these win-win possibilities.

Leanne Regalla, singer/songwriter from Pennsylvania, said she is “tweaking and re-prioritizing” her career direction directly as a result of those sessions. Leanne stated, “All my previous plans were based on the assumption I would never make any real, serious money performing. You proved me wrong this weekend.”

Special classes were taught by guest speakers on imaging and on vocal coaching (Brett Manning of Singing Success).

Both Bootcamp days ended with artists doing a one-song audition/showcase in front of a panel of industry professionals and the Bootcamp audience. From country to pop, originals to covers, experienced to first time performers… each artist was able to receive valuable feedback about their performance.

Five of the performers were chosen to receive Top Performer awards: Aaron Shadwell, Charity Vance, IS, Nicole Barron, and Rae Solomon.

A complete listing of the awards given, as well as a little information about the Top Performers and their music will be posted later this week.

Artist Nicole Barron of Ontario, Canada said, “I found every element of the Bootcamp valuable. I can’t believe artists resist coming and learning from you. I intend on insisting everyone of my musician friends get connected with your organization in some way. They all need the lessons you teach. And it just seems wrong to keep it to myself!”

  3. Great folks, great learning opportunity and great time! Thanks to TJ , his staff, special guests and fellow attendees for making it such a fun and “life changing” (as in the words of Mr.J = the purpose of our desires/wanting to be at music gatherings) Music City adventure. Also, I love my “Backstage Pass” which is giving me greater knowledge and understanding of how to be successful and survive this “cut throat world”, otherwise known as the “music business industry”. With this knowledge I am learning to comunicate better and feel more confidence within the music community (something I have always lacked before). Good luck to the many great music folks I got a chance to spend time with at this Tom Jackson Bootcamp in Nashville, TN. I will be watching for some of you to reach “star” status, of course by making great music. Recommending TJP to all my musician/singer/songwriter friends!

  4. A massively brilliant event. So glad I attended! Can’t wait for Tom’s book to come out!
