Brooke Turner Song & Critique Review Video
17-year-old Canadian Brooke Turner attended a Tom Jackson Bootcamp and showcased her original song, Life of the Party. As all the judges commented, her song was an excellent one, exactly right for radio play in the female pop genre!
But for performance, it would be much more effective if it were edited. Extending the intro, leaving space for development, digging into the fun parts of the song – all of that can only be done with a track edited for live performance.
In this video, you’ll hear Tom’s thoughts on how the track could be redone (apply these concepts to any tracks you might use). Then Amy Wolter and Tom both work to help Brooke understand that her movement onstage needs to be intentional. Singing to the audience (because she wants to communicate the lyrics) means the visual should match what she is singing, and it needs to keep the integrity of the song.
