The Forrest Gump Moment – Are YOU Grammy-Ready?
In the aftermath of a mostly-great Grammy awards show, filled with some pretty memorable moments, I’m still perplexed by one performance that has many of my Facebook friends still scratching their heads.
It’s too bad, because the show had it going on, with Taylor’s wild fantasy number, Jack White & his vibe-y all-girl band, stellar musical moments in the Levon Helm tribute and the Maroon 5/Alicia Keys pairing, fun with fun. – getting pelted with rain, and Carrie Underwood’s magical dress.
But the show came to a pitchy, ‘what-was-THAT?’ confused halt, when Frank Ocean sang a song about Forrest Gump.
Now, I had no previous knowledge (other than hearing his name) of who he was or what he sounded like, before this show.
I’m not writing this just to blast Frank Ocean, but to point out some things for you to think about when it comes to your shows, and the decision-making process that goes on before an important gig. Here’s the video:
