Making More Money at the Gig

Suppose you work at a Staples office supply store for $9/hour. And let’s say you really like working there (hang with me for a minute ).

In fact, you enjoy what you do, you like the people there, it’s fun and you have a real passion for the work.

Now let’s say that your boss tells you that you can keep the job at Staples, but the next time you walk into work they’re going to start giving you $40/hour to do the same job. How would you feel? Would you keep working there?

That may seem like a ridiculous question… no doubt you’d be really excited! You loved the job before you made $40/hour! Pretty much a “no-brainer” that you’d not only keep the job, but you’d probably enjoy it even more and be glad you didn’t have to work so hard to make ends meet every month.

But for a lot of gigging artists, it’s not so much of a “no-brainer.” They don’t realize that the job they do (and enjoy, have fun with, and are passionate about) could be paying them a lot more every time they walk through the door of venues they play!

When I teach my Live Music Business Principles, I always explain that most artists who are successful and making a living, have multiple streams of revenue at their show. They’re not just being paid to play and sell their CD. Whether someone is an indie artist, a major artist, or a weekend warrior, the ones with a manager or someone in their group who has business savvy, will have set up multiple streams of revenue.

For instance, many artists make sure they receive sponsorships from local, regional, or national businesses. They are intentional about collecting email names and using the internet to followup and develop relationships with fans for future income or internet sales. And they recognize the importance of developing specific kinds of merch they know their audience will be looking for after their show.

On Tuesday, July 24, at 8pm (central time), I’ll be doing a Free Live Webinar on Live Music Business Principles: Making more money at the gig for all Backstage Pass members.

I’m going to share some of my Business Principles that have worked for many artists over the years, because I know they can work for you, too! I will let you know how you can apply them, and I’ll share some of the success stories other artists have shared with me after they’ve applied these Principles.

So if you’re interested in walking into your gig and making 3, 5, or even 10 times the amount you usually make, get online with me for this Free Live Webinar… register here with your Backstage Pass…

If you don’t have a Backstage Pass yet, get yours here – the $14 investment for one month Backstage will be way more than worth it!
